Who can read and post. Course participants only: sign in with your
@ucr.edu address (instructors and guests are added by name). Nothing here
is visible to anyone who is not signed in.
Named or anonymous, post by post. Tick Post anonymously and
classmates see an alias such as “Anonymous Heron” — the same alias for
you throughout one thread, a different one in the next.
Instructors can see who wrote an anonymous post, so that they can
moderate. The one exception is the Anonymous feedback category: there the
forum shows your name to no one, instructors included, and only instructors can read
what you wrote.
Honest fine print. The forum's database stores the author of every
post, so the person who administers it could in principle look it up. Anonymity here
protects you from classmates, not from a database query.
Norms. Be kind and specific. Ask about ideas, errors and intuition;
do not post homework solutions or solution code before the due date. Instructors may
hide posts that break these norms.
Formatting. Markdown, code blocks (```python), and math
with $…$ or $$…$$.
